The (Un)writing Poetry Project
Blackout poems isolate words and phrases from existing pages of texts to create lyrical masterpieces. Writing blackout poetry is a process of close reading, destruction, and discovery. Limitless poems live within a single page.
The (Un)writing Poetry Project invites the public to discover their unique poem—absurd or sublime. At this installation, participants can create blackout poems by using tablet computer(s) to mark digitized text pages sourced from the public domain. All contributions will be projected as videos that show the succession of the poet’s marks and the consequent emergence of the blackout poem.
