Transmissions

Transmissions is a wall-hung kinetic sculpture that captures, bounces, and fragments light into a dynamic symphony of color. The white circle serves as both a stage and symbolic boundary, unable to contain the boundless light.

At the sculpture's core is a prism whose rotation alternates between gentle and abrupt in an irregular pattern, infusing the piece with mystery. The sound of the motor adds a mechanistic quality and heightens the overall sensory experience. Minimal black lines drawn onto the white circle echo the straight prismatic rays, enhancing the contrast between straight and curved elements.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena.

Carl Sagan

Prompted by the 2024 eclipse, Transmissions represents my artistic exploration of the physical and conceptual manifestations inspired by this powerful natural phenomenon.

While creating Transmissions, I considered the connection between light and our shared human experience. Light connects us to the cosmos— a link to the larger forces that created and sustain life on Earth.
